Lemony Grapefruit Cocktail

Note: This post was originally published on my old lifestyle blog, monicadutia.com.

Tomorrow marks day 21 of "social distancing" for us (my last "outing" besides going to buy food–and alcohol–was three Fridays ago) and for the first 10 or so days, I think I was having some kind of cocktail, glass of wine, or beer almost every night! While we realized that a drink a day wasn't the best decision based how long these circumstances were going to continue, I'm still using some of my extra time at home to get more creative in the cocktail department while also not shopping for drink-specific ingredients.I'm pretty sure I first made this lemony grapefruit cocktail on quarantine day 1 but I've had it a few times since...it's so easy and like most of my favorite at-home cocktails, doesn't require anything obscure and is made up of things you'd easily use in many other ways! Bonus: it's packed with Vitamin C thanks to the lemon and grapefruit juice, and can easily be made with vodka if that's your preference to gin. Cheers!

Lemony Grapefruit Cocktail

  • Ice (I used 10 cubes)

  • 3 oz gin

  • 4 oz grapefruit juice (freshly squeezed is best but not required)

  • 1 10oz can lemon seltzer

  • 1 lemon

  1. In a cocktail shaker, combine the ice, gin, and grapefruit juice.

  2. Slice the lemon in half and cut off two thin slices; set aside.

  3. Squeeze the juice of the remaining lemon into the shaker.

  4. Give it a good shake and pour evenly between the two glasses.

  5. Top each cocktail with the lemon slices and serve immediately!
